First, I want to emphasise that fasting has nothing to do with starvation or food deprivation. There is a huge psychological difference between fasting and food deprivation. Fasting has existed since the

beginning of life on Earth. Injured or ill animals, for example, undertake exactly what we call ‘fasting.’ Their first instinct is to abstain from solid foods. They instinctively know that the healing process will be much faster and more effective when they take the burden off their digestive tract by abstaining from solid food. This life-saving instinct has always existed in the entire animal kingdom. Even though the human body certainly has the same instinct, many people neglect it and keep eating, often trying to eat more food to ‘speed up’ the healing of ailments. They often think eating more will allow the body to get enough nutrients. Some people eat when they get a fever or ‘feed’ a cold. Feed a cold? Brilliant idea!


What happens when you are sick and eat a lot? All the nervous energy goes to the stomach, leaving little energy for the immune and other systems. All the energy you were using to stay healthy is

diverted to digesting the food in your stomach. Your body always must assimilate or eliminate. Therefore, it is not a clever idea to feed a cold. Even if we are not experiencing any kind of illness,

regularly undertaking a short fast is the best way to rejuvenate our metabolism and wellbeing. Fasting has been a religious ritual and a way of preventing and curing diseases since time immemorial. During a fast, your body will get rid of its fat tissue and start digesting food the way nature intended. Weight reduction, detoxification, and healing processes are important benefits of fasting.

During the process of fasting, the body purifies itself of the Earth’s wide variety of pollutants and toxins, whereby bodily health and function in general are improved. When your body does not receive food, it starts looking for food within its resources. First, it consumes things that cause interference with its functioning, such as lumps, sick cells, abscesses, skin pockets, morbid accumulations of tumours, and fat deposits. In other words, it is healing itself by consuming its own disease! Wow! That is insanely amazing, effective, and harmless. Not to mention, it is free! Yes, my dear friends, fasting is indeed free! You also save money and time! Even so, fasting is seldom practiced, and ‘the masses’ do not even know about it. Today, many health gurus and also monks fast several times a year and enjoy the truly mind-blowing benefits on offer. Fasting leads to improvement in the body’s capacity and ability to better use consumed food. It is no accident that in many religions, fasting is prescribed as a righteous act. It is an aid to getting rid of fat, while enabling purifying and energising of our mind, body, and soul. The body is totally overloaded by having to process tons of artificial, processed, and toxic food, day after day, month after month.


Just a little disclaimer here again. Undertaking an extended dry fast is not for the faint hearted – even one or two days can put you at a tremendous risk, especially unsupervised and unsupported. Always consult with your health professional before undertaking any fast. Never do it alone! Always seek support and supervision. Give your body time to adapt to longer fasts and start with shorter periods of 12 or 16 hours. Currently, I fast a minimum of 7 days per month and have been doing so for the last 2 years. Therfore I undertake a three-day mini dry fast once per month, with no food and water, to give my body a 72-hour break from food and water to heal. I get a proper clean out, build new stem cells, save time and money, and enjoy the process of autophagy and the benefits of mental clarity. And then I do 4 days water fasting which can break down in 2 x2 days or a 4 day water fast in one piece.That has accumulated to about 100 fasting days per year in the last 3 years.
